The Education Director is responsible for the overall management, planning, coordination, and implementation of dynamic high-yield learning activities and programs within the Learning Center. This involves designing and delivering programs, activities, and events using BGCA’s five key elements of high-quality programming, while ensuring a positive experience for all participants. These include running daily after-school and summer programming that utilizes Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Brain Gain, Power Hour, and Project Learn curricula, as well as any additional programs based on the needs and interests of youth in our community.

Key Responsibilities

Program Managment:

  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for all youth. Implement strategies to enhance participant retention and satisfaction.
  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. This includes ensuring the safety of members at all times, delivering high-quality programs, and maintaining a clean and safe program space at all times.
  • Maintain Learning Center supplies and equipment, ensuring that all materials are used safely and appropriately. Monitor program expenditures within the monthly department budget, and recommend requisitions of supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate educational programming into overall Club activities and special events.
  • Promote and market academic success programs to Club members and local families via assembly, announcements, bulletin boards, flyers, online outreach, and posted schedules. Update and maintain bulletin boards to be informative and attractive.

  • A minimum of two years of work experience in a youth-serving organization or school at a professional level, planning and implementing activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively plan, coordinate, organize, implement, and evaluate a wide range of quality academic programs for youth.
