The Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Founded in 1989 as a single-site club in Hobe Sound serving 165 children, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Martin County (BGCMC) has grown to operate four clubs in Martin County reaching thousands of children and families per year. BGCMC’s vision is to provide a world-class enrichment experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters through its doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
Operating with an $8M budget, BGCMC’s programming reached 6,663 young people through programming focused on three core pillars: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. In each of these areas, BGCM’s programs show promising results thanks in part to its dedicated staff and innovative model using Americorps volunteers to serve as academic enrichment coaches. BGCMC also provided over 100K free and nutritious meals and over $500K in scholarships to the young people it serves.

Position Overview
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County are looking for a Program Specialist to plan, implement and supervise programs and high yield learning activities with our Club Members.
Program Duties:
- Follow the Youth Development Strategy - Instill in youth feelings of Belonging, Usefulness, Influence and Competence (BUIC).
- In keeping with the Formula for Impact objectives effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members.
- Ensure engagement, stimulate participation, and promote consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
- Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members and overall direction for their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement and academic progress.
- Plan special events, such as guest speakers, performances or field trips.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members including maintaining a ratio of staff to members of 1:25 or less.
- Support members emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts successfully.
- Plan and facilitate purposeful and engaging activities and group projects.
- Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets and other administrative duties.
- Gain a working knowledge of grant outcome expectations and report results as requested.
Program Supervision:
- Provide active supervision continually interacting with all members and providing motivation and encouragement.
- Mandatory cleaning of program area on a daily basis.
- Ensure that program equipment is in good condition and instruct members in the proper use of the equipment.
- Discipline members fairly, consistently, and only according to established policies and procedures.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to members and peers.
- Work actively with volunteers to guide them regarding member activities and needs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in training and staff development activates.
- May participate in special programs and/or events.
- May drive Club van.
- May input program data into database.
- Complete trainings as required.
- May be required to help out in multiple areas as needed.
- Clean area as needed.
Qualifications
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED (or working towards).
- Must be passionate about working with kids, experience is a plus.
- Must be able to pass a level II background check and drug screen.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications (or obtain within the first three months of employment).
Compensation
This position offers $18 per hour.
Schedule
Monday-Friday with hours between 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm. (Could be before or after depending on the location and situation of the day.) Typical Non-School Day & Summer Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday and a shift would fall between the hours of 7:30AM to 5:30PM. (Could be before or after depending on the location and situation of the day.) There may be occasional weekend work with advance notice.
