Job Title: Bilingual Child Development Specialist (Families 2000 Program)

Reports To: Families 2000 Supervisor
Department: Families 2000 Program
Job Type: Full-Time

Primary Function:

Under the direction of the Families 2000 Supervisor, the Bilingual Child Development Specialist (CDS) works closely with families and their children to assess individual needs and support positive child development. The CDS provides direct services to parents, including home visits, parent education, and resource connections, while collaborating with community agencies to ensure comprehensive support for families.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to families through regular home visits with a focus on parenting education and child development.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine family needs and eligibility for services; document all findings and decisions.
  • Assist families in setting and achieving goals outlined in their service plans while maintaining confidentiality and respect for their rights.
  • Recruit new families and maintain ongoing engagement with active participants.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and community resources or other social service agencies.
  • Conduct developmental screenings for children under age three annually and refer to Early Intervention programs as needed.
  • Facilitate parent education classes and group sessions as directed.
  • Complete accurate and timely case management documentation, including case notes, forms, and monthly reports.
  • Maintain organized client files and ensure all documentation is current.
  • Submit weekly itineraries and monthly reports as assigned.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in outside recruitment events.
  • Assist with maintaining the Families 2000 office space, lending library, and programming materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Families 2000 Director or Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required — must be able to communicate effectively in both languages, verbally and in writing.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in home visiting, case management, or family advocacy.
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and parenting education strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Windows, Excel).
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
