Position Details
- Reports To: Club Director
- Status: Non-Exempt
- Schedule: Part-Time (20–25 hours per week)
- Shift Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
The Youth Development Professional is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and supervision of programs that support the developmental needs of youth. This role focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment while fostering positive relationships with members and promoting participation in Club programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Programming & Youth Engagement
- Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs in arts, STEAM, sports, leadership, and healthy lifestyles aligned with BGCA core areas
- Monitor and track member engagement and program effectiveness
- Prepare and organize materials for program sessions in advance
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and emotional support to youth
- Adapt programming based on member needs, interests, and feedback
- Utilize social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies to support positive behavior
- Identify and address behavioral issues; escalate concerns to Club Director as needed
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all members
- Supervise youth at all times, including during program rotations
- Maintain a clean, organized program space and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols
- Follow all organizational safety procedures and applicable public health guidelines
- Report and document all incidents and accidents in a timely manner
- Greet members and manage daily check-in/check-out processes
- Maintain accurate attendance records
- Build positive relationships with members and families
- Promote Club programs and encourage participation
- Support recruitment of new members
- Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment
- Recommend supply needs to Club Director
- Record accurate timesheets and obtain required approvals
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and Club events as required
- Support overall Club operations as needed
- Remain aware of potential donors, community partnerships, and grant opportunities and communicate them to leadership as appropriate
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in planning and implementing youth programs required
- Ability to motivate and engage youth while managing behavioral challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible and adapt programming as needed
- Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle high-stress situations in a professional manner
Pay Range: $18.50 – $19.00 per hour

- Ability to actively supervise youth in indoor and outdoor environments
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
