Job Description
Dear Applicant:
The California Decoy Program, with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County (B&GCFC), pay tobacco prevention associates in all 58 California counties to help conduct tobacco checks. All checks are done in conjunction with the following organizations:
California Department of Public Health
Office of Youth Tobacco Enforcement (OYTE)
Tobacco Enforcement Operations
OYTE works to stop illegal tobacco sales in California. Tobacco prevention associates who partner with OYTE Law Enforcement will attempt to buy tobacco products at tobacco retailers under the supervision OYTE to help stop sales of tobacco products to minors. Our investigators will provide transportation. While our headquarters is located in Fresno, you will NEVER have to travel to Fresno.
Tobacco prevention associates who help with tobacco checks are trained for tobacco operations. If a tobacco purchase is made, the OYTE will issue a fine the owner of the establishment. The OYTE agents will inform the store owner that an illegal purchase was made. The associate is not involved when the fine is issued.
The California Decoy Program offers a unique opportunity for tobacco prevention assistants to earn money, work with state law enforcement, and help stop the injustice of underage tobacco sales. We are pleased to offer all enrolled decoys a $50 sign on bonus as well as the opportunity to earn $100-$200 on the days they work.
