Job Title: Construction Instructor

Location: Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties

Overview: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties is seeking a skilled and passionate Construction Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction trades and a strong desire to mentor and teach young people. The Construction Instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering construction-related programs to Club members, fostering their interest and skills in construction trades, and providing hands-on instruction in a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement construction-related programs for Club members, including workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on projects.
  • Teach fundamental principles and techniques of construction trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Create lesson plans and instructional materials that are engaging, age-appropriate, and aligned with Club objectives and standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to Club members as they learn new skills and work on construction projects.
  • Ensure the safety of Club members during construction activities by enforcing safety protocols and providing appropriate supervision.
  • Collaborate with Club staff to integrate construction education into broader youth development programs and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized construction workshop area, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of Club members in acquiring construction skills, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with Club staff, parents, and stakeholders to update them on program activities and participant progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where Club members feel valued, respected, and supported in their pursuit of construction skills.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in construction trades preferred.
  • Proven experience in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of basic construction principles and techniques.
  • Experience working with youth in a teaching or mentoring capacity, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and implement effective educational programs.
  • Ability to prioritize safety and adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Club members and respond to changing priorities.
  • Positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for teaching and working with young people.

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
