Overview
Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley are seeking a dependable, self-motivated Director of Maintenance to help maintain safe, welcoming, and efficient Club facilities across our locations in Schulenburg, Weimar, and Columbus. This position combines general building maintenance with basic technology support to ensure our staff and members have a safe environment and reliable equipment to support daily programming.
The ideal candidate is skilled in general repairs, comfortable troubleshooting computers and technology (optional, but preferred), and enjoys making a positive impact in the community by supporting local youth.
Duties
Facility Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to Club facilities.
- Repair doors, locks, cabinets, furniture, drywall, flooring, and fixtures.
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and basic plumbing fixtures.
- Perform minor electrical repairs (switches, outlets, fixtures) within skill level.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks to reduce future repairs.
- Assemble furniture and equipment as needed.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for repairs beyond the scope of the position.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from Club staff.
Technology Support
- Set up and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, projectors, and televisions.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and internet connectivity issues.
- Install software updates and maintain antivirus protection.
- Maintain an inventory of technology equipment and recommend replacements when needed.
- Help staff with basic technology questions and electronics setup.
Additional Duties
- Maintain a safe and organized maintenance workspace.
- Keep maintenance records and document completed repairs and time worked.
- Identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective action.
- Purchase maintenance supplies within approved budgets.
- Follow all Boys & Girls Clubs safety policies and procedures.
- Support special events with setup and breakdown when needed.
- Travel between Club locations as necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of handyman, maintenance, facilities, or related experience.
- Experience troubleshooting computers and basic office technology.
- Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid Texas driver's license with reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Safely use ladders, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
