Department: Club Operations
Reports To: Club Director / Program Manager
FLSA Status: Volunteer (Unpaid)
Position Summary
Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County (BGCBC) volunteers support Club staff in providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment for youth. Volunteers assist with daily activities, mentorship, and program support while serving as positive role models for members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support staff with daily Club activities and programs (education, recreation, arts, etc.)
- Engage with youth in a positive, respectful, and encouraging manner
- Assist with homework help, tutoring, or enrichment activities
- Help supervise members to ensure safety and adherence to Club rules
- Support special events, field trips, and group activities as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized program space
- Follow all BGCBC policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old (under 18 must be a registered Club member)
- Passion for working with youth and supporting the community
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to serve as a positive role model
- Reliable, responsible, and professional
Screening & Requirements
All volunteers must complete the following prior to placement:
- Volunteer application and onboarding forms
- Level 2 background screening (if 18 or older)
- National Sex Offender Registry check
- Attestation of Good Moral Character
- Completion of required trainings (as assigned)
Note: Volunteers may not begin service until fully cleared through the screening process.
