Title: Athletic Coordinator

Reports to: Director

Job Summary:

Coordinates all athletic activities and programs by implementing health and wellness programs. Also, works with youth between 6 and 18, and performs related work as assigned based on the core service program.

Promote the components of health, wellness and fitness to achieve the goals of the organization. The role is part-time up to 28 hours per week.

It is the responsibility of every staff member to cultivate and maintain positive donor relationships.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of children and teens.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal abilities – able to interact effectively with co-workers of all levels as well as with members and community.
  • Commitment to role model and promote a life style of health, wellness and fitness to members and their families.
  • Mandatory CPR and First-Aid Certifications.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience organizing sports leagues and clinics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving history.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implements the health, physical education, health and wellness programs and activities that meet the needs and interests of all Club members.
  • Establishes an environment that ensures the health and safety of Club members and attracts members with appropriate displays, information and recognition.
  • Contributes to the creation of the Club’s overall climate for youth development.
  • Implements programs and activities consistent with the organization’s youth development mission.
  • Provides behavioral guidance services to Club members.
  • Manages program budget for the health and physical education program.
  • Promotes and markets programs to Club members and outreach to community.
  • Plans and implements health education through workshops, fairs, and the club’s sports program.
  • May be required to drive Club Vehicles periodically.
  • May oversee special event programs.
  • Implements all sports programs including but not limited to flag football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, soccer, kickball and soccer.
  • Purchases department equipment and supplies.
  • Supervises care and maintenance of department equipment, supplies and facilities, maintaining a clean environment.
  • Mandated child abuse reporter.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to think clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting, standing, stooping, ability to go up and down stairs, running, strenuous sports related activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to function under fast-paced and noisy conditions.
  • Good interpersonal abilities – able to interact effectively with co-workers of all levels as well as with representation of other organizations and institutions.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects.
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tact, maturity, and flexibility
