Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills is hiring part-time After School Program Leaders to support elementary students in Monrovia.
This is a great role for college students, future teachers, coaches, camp counselors, tutors, youth workers, and anyone who enjoys helping kids learn, grow, and have fun in a safe, structured environment.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday afternoons
Expected hours: Approximately 25 hours per week
Location: Monrovia elementary school sites
Job type: Part-time, in person
Start date: As soon as interview and background check are completed
About the role
Our Program Leaders help create a safe, fun, and positive after-school experience for students in TK-6th grade. Staff lead activities, build relationships with students, support homework and enrichment, and help create the kind of environment where kids feel safe, known, and encouraged.
You do not need years of experience to be successful in this role. Experience working with children is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person who is reliable, positive, and committed to working with kids.
What you will do:
- Keep students safe and engaged during the after-school program
- Build positive mentoring relationships with elementary-aged students
- Lead games, activities, enrichment programs, and group routines
- Support students with homework and academic activities
- Help create a respectful, responsible, and fun program culture
- Work as part of a team with other BGCF staff and school partners
- Follow program expectations, safety procedures, and staff direction
Schedule:
Monday: 1:00pm-6:00pm
Tuesday: 1:00pm-6:00pm
Wednesday: 12:15pm-6:00pm
Thursday: 1:00pm-6:00pm
Friday: 1:30pm-6:00pm
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for people who are:
- Reliable and able to work Monday-Friday afternoons
- Positive, patient, and encouraging with children
- Comfortable leading activities and supervising groups of up to 20 students
- Able to communicate clearly with students, families, and staff
- Willing to learn and follow Boys & Girls Club program expectations
- Able to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds
- A team player with a strong work ethic
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience in childcare, after-school programs, summer camp, tutoring, coaching, recreation, or youth development
- Interest in education, child development, social work, psychology, kinesiology, recreation, or a related field
- Ability to drive Club minivans for student transportation
Requirements:
- Must complete screening and fingerprint background check before hire
- Must have reliable transportation to assigned Monrovia program site
- Must be able to stand, walk, move around the program area, and actively supervise children
- Must be able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities with students
- Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds when needed
- Must be able to help keep children safe in an emergency
- The completion of at least 48 semester units from an accredited college/university, or obtaining an Associate's degree or higher
