What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead YDP - Early Ed (Grades K-1) position at Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley?
This is a part-time (15-20 hours/week) / non-exempt position
Job Summary
The YDP - Early Ed is responsible for ensuring a quality afterschool experience for our youngest members. They must be enthusiastic, dependable and have a passion for working with children. The position's key function is to supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children as individuals and as a group. YDPs for are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the classroom and members they are assigned to. Duties include but are not limited to assisting children with homework, planning and organizing creative activities for their group each day, facilitating group activities, forming positive relationships with members, mediating member conflicts, and generally supplying a safe and fun environment for our youngest members.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program, by providing appropriate supervision at all times.
- Facilitate and implement meaningful activities and lesson plans that are age-appropriate, exciting, challenging, and based in the areas of academics, STEAM, character development, community service, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyles.
- Provide support with activity implementation.
- Organize and facilitate a variety of age-appropriate games and activities for groups of K/1 members that encourage peer-to-peer engagement.
- Work cooperatively with other club and program staff.
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
- Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
- Serve as a positive role model for participants.
- Adhere to all Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Prior experience in childcare required
- CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
- Driver’s license with 2-3 years of clean driving record
