Job Description:
The Lifeguard/swim instructor will provide a safe and fun learning environment while serving as a positive role model for club members and staff. In conjunction with the Aquatics Director, he/she will manage and develop team members including Lifeguards and Swim Instructors while supervising all members at the pool.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model to club and team members
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area
- Direct and supervise all groups at the pool
- In-charge of directing Aquatics Activities & Swim Team
- Evaluate members swimming abilities; identify and meet member needs
- Ensure buddy checks are being performed according to BGCPP policy
- Track members swim progress and prepare certificates for completed levels
- Coordinate daily swim and enrichment lesson schedules; supervise all swim lessons
- Ensure Instructors are prepared to teach swimming skills on a daily basis
- Perform pool maintenance duties and record any incidents
- Maintains accurate records as required by the BGCPP and/or the state health department code
- Interface with parents/guardians through written and verbal communication
- Fulfill additional duties that may be assigned
Requirements:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (or equivalent) * Please apply if certification has expired - we will help you to recertify.
- First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED certification
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred
- Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
Experience:
- One year lifeguarding experience
- One year coaching and/or swim instructor experience
- One year of customer service experience
