Position Overview:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North (BGC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Seasonal Outdoor Aquatics Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our outdoor aquatics facility at Hall Memorial Pool in Stoneham, MA from May 1st - Labor Day, September 7th 2026. This seasonal leadership role is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and engaging aquatic environment for youth, families, and community members. The Aquatic Supervisor will manage pool operations, coordinate programming, supervise staff, oversee facility rentals and provide exceptional customer service throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Safety
- Oversee all aspects of daily pool operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility.
- Enforce all safety rules, facility policies, and address any safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain incident reports.
Staff Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal aquatic staff, including lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback for all aquatic staff.
- Maintain records of staff certifications.
Pool Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain pool water quality, including chemical levels and filtration systems
- Perform routine maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance, water testing and chemical logs
Programming & Swim Lessons
- Assist with planning and implementing aquatic programs and swim lessons.
- Ensure quality instruction and a positive experience for participants
- Support development of additional aquatic programming as needed
Facility Rentals & Events
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage pool rentals and special events.
- Serve as on-site lead during rental events
- Ensure proper staffing and adherence to safety protocols during rentals
Other Duties
- Act as a primary point of contact for staff, guests, and facility management.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations, including rescues and first-aid responses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Current WSI (Water Safety Instructor Certification via Red Cross or YMCA)
- Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required (or ability to obtain before start date)
- Previous aquatics management or supervisory experience required (1-2 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of water safety, lifeguard operations, and emergency response protocols.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, delegate responsibilities, and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Experience managing staff schedules and training programs.
- Familiarity with pool maintenance, water chemistry, and filtration systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working at an outdoor aquatics facility, water park, or public pool.
- Knowledge of local and state health codes related to aquatic facilities.
- Experience supervising and training lifeguards and aquatics staff.
- Hands-on experience with lifeguarding, swim instruction, or water safety programs.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to aquatic facilities.
- Previous experience scheduling staff, maintaining records, and enforcing policies.
Skills and experience:
- Leadership & Team Management: Ability to supervise, train, and motivate a team of lifeguards, swim instructors, and support staff.
- Water Safety & Lifeguarding Expertise: Strong knowledge of lifeguard operations, emergency response, and water safety protocols.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with staff, guests, and facility management in a professional manner.
- Crisis Management & Decision-Making: Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick, sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Organizational & Time Management Skills: Efficiently handle scheduling, training, safety inspections, and program planning.
- Pool Operations & Maintenance Knowledge: Understanding of water chemistry, filtration systems, and basic pool upkeep.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Quickly identify and resolve operational or safety concerns.
- Customer Service Skills: Provide a positive and welcoming experience for guests while enforcing safety policies.

Schedule
- Tuesday through Sunday
- 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Flexibility required for scheduled rentals and special events outside of standard hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
