What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contracted Basketball Official position at Boys & Girls Club of McAllen?
The Boys and Girls Club of McAllen is seeking qualified contract officials for flag football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball sports. All applicants should be experienced in the related field, organized, able to develop and implement youth programs where applicable, have excellent written and oral skills, motivated and committed to working with youth/teens.
Basketball: $14.00 per game
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Sport Official is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures of specific sports such as baseball, flag football, volleyball, and basketball.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Ensures player safety.
- Ensures facility policy and regulations are adhered to.
- Communicates with Sports Coordinators, community members, parents, and other individuals regarding sports expectations.
- Must be familiar with legislation, policies, procedures, and rules about each sports events and competitions.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Sports Coordinator to interpret and explain the organizational mission, program objectives, and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience playing, coaching or officiating various sports preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good organization and attention to detail
- Strong customer relations skills
- Capable of dealing effectively with stressful situations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Official may require extended hours of sitting, standing and walking in an outdoor or outdoor environment with the possibility of being exposed to the elements.
DISCLAIMER:
The Officiator may find the environments to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time, and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
TRAINING:
Training is available for all sports officiations.
