The Director of Community Engagement & Marketing is responsible for leading the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem’s marketing, communications, public relations, community outreach, and event execution efforts. This individual plays a key role in promoting the Club’s mission, programs, events, and impact throughout the community.

Working closely with the Director of Resource Development, this role develops and implements marketing strategies that increase community awareness, donor engagement, event participation, and organizational visibility. This position also supports the planning and execution of fundraising and community events while helping strengthen relationships with families, sponsors, volunteers, media outlets, and community partners.

The Director of Community Engagement & Marketing serves as the primary lead for marketing execution, communications, and event coordination while supporting the broader development goals of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies that promote the Club’s mission, programs, events, campaigns, and impact
  • Create and manage content for social media, email marketing, website updates, newsletters, press releases, annual reports, and printed materials
  • Maintain brand consistency across all organizational communications and promotional materials
  • Coordinate media outreach and public relations opportunities
  • Capture and share stories, photos, and impact messaging that highlight Club youth, programs, donors, sponsors, and community partnerships
  • Support donor communications, sponsorship recognition, and fundraising campaign visibility efforts

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools, volunteers, media partners, and local stakeholders
  • Represent the Club at community events, networking opportunities, and outreach initiatives
  • Support volunteer engagement and community awareness efforts
  • Assist with sponsor engagement, recognition activities, and stewardship support

Event Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate logistics and execution for fundraising events, community events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Resource Development to support sponsorship fulfillment, event marketing, timelines, budgets, vendor coordination, and event execution
  • Develop event promotional materials, signage, programs, scripts, and communication plans
  • Assist with event setup, coordination, registration, and on-site management
  • Support event committees and community engagement efforts tied to fundraising initiatives
  • Assist with post-event communications, sponsor acknowledgements, and reporting

Digital & Public Presence

  • Manage and update website content and online event/fundraising platforms
  • Oversee social media scheduling, engagement, and digital campaign performance
  • Support CRM and donor database communications through coordinated marketing and engagement efforts
  • Monitor marketing analytics and provide recommendations for increased engagement and visibility

Organizational Support

  • Support Club programs and organizational initiatives through marketing and community outreach efforts
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to promote Club activities and successes
  • Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience (4 preferred) in marketing, communications, event planning, donor engagement, or community outreach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media management, email marketing, content creation, and CRM systems
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with Canva, Constant Contact, donor management systems, social media platforms, website management, and event software preferred
