Morning Youth Development Professional (YDP)

Part-Time Monday–Friday, 6:20 AM–8:30 AM
The Morning Youth Development Professional (YDP) helps provide members with a safe, welcoming, and positive start to their school day. This position supports youth as they prepare for school, assists with completing homework when needed, and helps members begin their day feeling prepared, confident, and successful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome members and create a positive environment each morning.
- Help members prepare for the school day and ensure they have what they need before leaving for school.
- Provide homework assistance and academic support as needed.
- Encourage positive behavior, good decision-making, and school readiness.
- Build positive relationships with members and serve as a supportive role model.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging environment.
- Follow Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana safety, supervision, and program expectations.
- Work as part of the Club team to support the overall success and well-being of members.
The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, positive, and enjoys working with school-age youth. This position is an important part of helping members start each day prepared and ready to succeed.
Qualifications:Knowledge/Skills Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college education preferred
- Previous experience working with youth, particularly elementary school age
- Working knowledge of youth development as well as experience with Boys & Girls Clubs preferred
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Capable of organizing and supervising members in a safe environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and general public
- Facilitate quality programs for youth
- Strong organization and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize
- Able to work with minimal supervision at a remote site location while maintaining a positive, calm demeanor
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
- Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a drug screen for all federally illegal substances.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
