This position is funded by Luke Calcagni, which serves as the source of where the funds are coming from for the role.

Rooted in BGCA’s 5 Key Elements, safety, fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, and recognition—this role is essential to creating a space where teens feel empowered to lead and succeed. Working under the guidance of the Unit Director, the coordinator provides vital support in creating a transformative experience for local youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • High School (Ages 14–18): Assist in implementing evidence-based BGCA programs such as Keystone Club (leadership), Diplomas to Degrees (college readiness), and Money Matters (financial literacy).
  • Tween & Teen Night Oversight: Oversee specialized "Tween & Teen Nights" during extended hours; lead recruitment efforts to bring new older youth into the Club and ensure a high standard of safety and supervision during these late-night activities.
  • Workforce Development: Support the delivery of life & workforce readiness activities, including resume building, soft skills training, and career exploration sessions.
  • Recruitment & Retention: Actively engage with local schools to recruit teen members and develop strategies to retain them through specialized "Teen-Only" events and nights.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide active supervision and mentorship, fostering supportive relationships that help teens navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges.
  • Academic Support: Implement the "Project Learn" strategy by offering direct support with homework and post-secondary applications. Use PowerSchool Progress Reports and the Academic Support Tracker to continuously monitor member performance and provide proactive guidance.
  • Safe Environment: Maintain a secure and nurturing environment by following all safety protocols and addressing behavior with empathy and accountability.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and school staff to provide updates on progress and address concerns.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support Unit Leadership: Assist the Unit Director with administrative tasks, including tracking teen attendance, membership data entry, and program reporting.
  • Facility Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the “Teen Center” and shared Club spaces to ensure a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Special Events: Support Club-wide initiatives such as Youth of the Year celebrations, community fundraisers, and family nights.
  • Other Duties As Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Director or senior leadership to ensure the overall success and safety of the Club’s operations.

Qualifications:
