Position Overview
The Marketing and Social Media Intern will work closely with the Director of Fundraising and the Resource Development team to elevate BGCC’s digital voice. This internship is designed for an Oregon State University student studying marketing, business, communications, digital media, or graphic design who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, social media strategy, and multimedia content creation.
Over two terms (Winter and Spring), the intern will support daily content needs, assist with our Spring Fundraising Appeal, and play a creative role in major fundraising events.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media and Content Creation
- Produce high-quality photo and video content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Film and edit short-form videos (reels, stories, highlights) that feature BGCC programs, youth, staff, and community partners.
- Design polished Canva graphics that support campaigns, donor spotlights, and events.
- Assist with managing the content calendar, scheduling posts, and ensuring consistent brand voice.
Analytics and Reporting
- Monitor weekly analytics and prepare simple performance summaries for the team.
- Identify trends and recommend ways to increase reach, engagement, and follower growth.
- Track metrics for fundraising campaigns and event-related content.
Fundraising Campaign Support
- Assist with creating social media content for the Spring Appeal.
- Support email marketing, donor storytelling, and cross-channel promotions.
- Capture behind-the-scenes content that amplifies campaign messaging.
Event Support
- Attend and assist with major events such as Celebrate Kids Breakfast & Youth of the Year
- Capture live content (photos, videos, interviews) for real-time or post-event storytelling.
- Assist with event promotion, sponsor recognition, and recap posts.
Qualifications
- Current OSU student majoring in Marketing, Business, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Experience using Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn for content creation or storytelling.
- Proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Adobe apps, or similar media editing tools.
- Strong communication and writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable attending BGCC events and capturing content.
Required
- Must be able to pass a background check (due to youth-serving environment).
- Must provide a portfolio of work demonstrating skills in:
- Reels or short-form video
- Graphics or social media posts
- Canva or other design tools
