What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Academic Success position at BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF AUSTIN?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The goal of the Academic Success program is to provide youth with programs and resources that supplement school-day instruction to support on time high school graduation and college readiness.
The Director of Academic Success directs and manages the overall daily operations of the Academic Success program. They are responsible for creating, implementing, promoting, and managing Academic Success programs, activities, and related partnerships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Creates, implements, promotes, and manages Academic Success programs and activities that supplement school day instruction with the overall goal of supporting youth to graduate from high school on time. Examples include but are not limited to: K-2nd reading support programs, academic case management, 8th – 9th grade transition planning, middle school and high school tutoring services, and summer learning programs.
- Work collaboratively with the Workforce Development Manager on college readiness programs, materials, and resources for youth.
- Collaborates with schools to ensure that programs and activities supplement existing services available.
- Establishes partnerships with schools and other local organizations to enhance the scope and quality of academic programs and resources available to youth attending Club.
- Manages tutoring services available to youth at Club sites including the management of paid tutors.
- Trains staff on Academic Success programs, principles, and practices.
- Performs regular site visits and observations to ensure quality of program delivery and collect youth program feedback.
- Manages data collection across Clubs related to the academic performance of youth.
- Analyses academic outcome data and refines program to produce higher levels of performance.
- Provides resources, training, and consultation to Club families on how they can support the academic success of their children.
- Completes regular professional development, including joining community groups, professional learning circles, attending training to maintain awareness of current and relevant academic resources and trends.
- Maintains a work environment that follows Boys and Girls Clubs safety standards.
- Collaborates with Club staff and members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instruction.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responds to inquiries as main point of contact with Directors and others pertaining to the Academic Success program.
- Maintains inventory of all Academic Success supplies.
- Ensures quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests.
- Fulfils grant requirements if any.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions as prescribed.
- May be required to drive a shuttle bus or Club transportation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
