TITLE: Full Time Youth Development Specialist, Part Time Teen Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director/Director Of Operations
TYPE OF POSITION: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Development Specialist/Teen Director is responsible for assisting in Daily Operations and overseeing Teen Center with primary concern for program development and implementation; staff development; supervisor of assigned staff; facilities; and Club financial management. Also responsible for assisting with planning, set up implementation and take town of all fundraising events.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Responsible for assisting staff with supervision of education, recreation, and art programs for the teen youth
2. Assist staff in stimulating participation of teen youth in activities
3. Provide leadership, direction, and problem solving in delivering guidance services
4. Conducts National Boys and Girls Club Teen Programs
5. Supervise care and maintenance of department equipment, supplies, and facilities
6. Contributes to the creation of the overall Club’s climate for youth development
7. Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good character.
8. Facilitate and attend Club trainings, including all staff meetings.
9. Responsible for execution of special events at the Club.
10. Responsible for budget tracking in all priority outcomes.
11. Ensure and management Club policies of behavior, special needs, youth success plans and safety are created and followed per Club policies and procedures.
12. Build relationships with parents of the organization through parent orientation, phone calls, e- mails, daily communication, etc.
13. Provide grant administration by ensuring all grant programs are meeting grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
14. Ensure accuracy of tracking of all duplicated and unduplicated youth participation in the areas of academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
15. Continually evaluate Club programs, reporting results according to established deadlines and addressing the needs of Club members.
16. Responsible for working in collaboration with other community groups to enhance services.
17. Establish relationship with school counselors and principles.
18. Implement and manage the NYOI, youth and staff survey process for the Unit.
19. Create, manage and implement a Teen Work Program
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Will be required to drive Club vans
2. Other duties as assigned
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
1. Experience working with youth in grades K-12, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2. Experience in supervising programs and services for youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
4. Ability to multi-task
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Positive Attitude
7. Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to assigned employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principals of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. May have to manage a number of projects at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs of youth
2. Must remain patient and committed to the activities
3. Must be able to complete tasks while working in a busy, noisy environment
4. May deliver programs in a variety of locations and may have to transport, lift and carry equipment and supplies
5. May have to engage in conflict resolution or crisis management
6. Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time throughout a shift
SALARY INFORMATION: $34,000 - $39,000, DOE;
