TITLE: Lead Pre-school Teacher
REPORTS TO: Director of Preschool
About This Opportunity:
Lead our preschool program in creating a dynamic, nurturing learning environment for 35 preschoolers. This full-time position offers unique professional development through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Network and collaboration with the Community Music School of Springfield and the Children's Literacy Initiative of Massachusetts (3-year grant partnership).
Schedule: Monday-Friday, staggered 8-hour shifts between 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (includes 30-minute break)
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging activities using the Teaching Strategies Curriculum while maintaining EEC and BGCA standards
- Integrate literacy programming through our Children's Literacy Initiative partnership
- Collaborate with Community Music School of Springfield on music education
- Maintain child safety as top priority in a family-friendly, inclusive, age-appropriate environment
- Use positive behavior guidance methods and manage transitions effectively
- Provide balanced curriculum supporting social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development
- Connect daily with parents/guardians and build positive relationships
- Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans meeting individual children's needs
- Evaluate children's progress regularly and share updates with families
- Maintain accurate records (attendance, program activities, assessments)
- Organize classroom space, materials, and displays
- Participate in 20 hours of annual professional development
- Attend regular staff meetings and monthly coaching sessions

Required Qualifications:
- Massachusetts Lead Teacher certification
- Associate's degree (or bachelor's degree in progress), preferably in Early Childhood Education
- Minimum 21 years old
- One years experience with preschoolers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with multicultural populations
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Pass state and federal background checks
- Current immunization records (measles, mumps, rubella) and negative TB test per MA Department of Public Health requirements
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift/move average weight materials occasionally.
