Boys & Girls Aid Safe Place facility in Hillsboro OR is looking to hire a full-time Youth Development Specialist. Are you creative in developing activities? This direct care position earns acompetitive wageof$22.00 - $23.00/hour. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

As a Youth Development Specialist, you will facilitate skill-building and positive youth development opportunities to improve outcomes in areas such as permanency, wellbeing, education, employment, and safe housing. You will develop and incorporate learning in areas like healthy relationships, financial literacy, vocational/educational supports, and tenant readiness. Additionally, you will support youth in engaging in pro-social experiences within their communities and provide youth with opportunities to be successful and learn in real-life situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and integrate the Positive Youth Development (PYD) program into existing services.
• Collaborate with internal and community partners to offer diverse skill-building opportunities.
• Facilitate engaging and fun skill-building activities, including groups and outings.
• Tailor learning areas to the needs of youth, incorporating their voices and focusing on emotional regulation, healthy relationships, self-care, communication, cultural awareness, resiliency, financial literacy, vocational/educational supports, and daily living skills.
• Support youth in engaging with their community, peer groups, and families.
• Create and maintain a calendar of skill-building and PYD opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field along with 2 years of experience working with young adult/youth and/or lived experience.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Bilingual Spanish-English preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIROMENT

• Ability to work outside or transport clients under various conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally and operate a keyboard and mouse.
• Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
