Title: Literacy Program Director
Reports To: VP of Program Operations
Status: Non-Exempt-Regular Employee, Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $55,000-$65,000

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the VP of Program Operations, this position will support our club Literacy Program for elementary grades K-5 and our Focused Learning program for grades 6-8.
The Literacy Program Director provides leadership, direction, and administration for the Club’s literacy programs and services in conjunction with the support of the Director Team. He/She/They provides guidance in literacy services for all Club members who have literacy needs, especially those with reading challenges. This includes the areas of organizational program planning, coordination, implementation, and coordination of all Literacy/Learning Specialist, setting the standard for performance and evaluation. The Literacy Program Director provides training, consultation, and support to the Boys & Girls Club staff
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees all Literacy/Learning Specialists regarding onboarding, training, and implementation.
- Coordinates the Club’s overall literacy services, youth development strategies, recognition, and reinforcement for Club members.
- Responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Multisensory Literacy Program at BGCSV
- Plans and provides in-service training to assist Literacy/Learning Specialists and Club staff in developing their awareness of literacy interventions and multisensory instruction. (Including onboarding new Literacy/Learning Specialists)
- Monitors the Club’s system for recording Club members’ progress, achievements, as well as staff intervention. Provides reports as required for various funding sources. This may include the utilization of Evidence Based Outcomes and surveys.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with organizations and institutions that provide resources and support for the Club’s literacy goals and vision.
- Meets established schedules/deadlines as part of normal routine; accepts a variety of daily activities while maintaining high accuracy requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality in all assignments and responsibilities.
- Complete safety incident/accident reports for any incident/accident or reoccurring behavior problems.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in Employee Handbook and elsewhere.
- Adhere to Boys & Girls Club philosophy.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or a minimum of 3-5 years of equivalent academic youth experience.
- Collaborative, creative thinker passionate about working with children and motivated to make a difference.
- Possess or the ability to attain an IMSE Ortin Gillingham Certification or equivalent certification.
- Successful experience leading a team.
- A demonstrated ability to coordinate, inspire, engage, and motivate staff and children from various age groups and backgrounds.
- Familiarity with effective teaching methods, positive discipline, and ability to design programs to meet the learning needs of elementary school students.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with youth and adults.
- Ability to work well with supervisors, peers, staff, and the community.
- Knowledge of child and youth development characteristics, learning styles, and appropriate approaches.
- Knowledge of CA school system, CCSS, Expanded Learning standards, and youth development and educational trends.
- Ability to work effectively with schools, parents, and others in the community to support students’ learning and developmental needs.
- Ability to develop, execute and iterate innovative ideas.
- Ability to advocate for our program to internal and external audiences (school, community & parents).
- Ability to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance; Ability to be CPR and First Aid certified; Ability to provide a negative Tuberculosis test
- Ability to pass the Sonoma Valley Unified School District’s Instructional Aide test with at least 70%

- Boys & Girls Clubs experience
- Experience with implementing impactful literacy programs
