The Director of Mountain Operation's typical job functions include (but not limited to):

Accountable for the mountain operations goals while contributing to the overall resort and corporate
goals/initiatives; overseeing the safe and efficient operation of all on mountain infrastructure -
Developing Great People through talent attraction/retention, proper training, active listening, timely coaching,
and positive recognition. Directly managing the establishment of goals, development plans and the appropriate
evaluation of performance for all direct reports - Fostering a caring safety culture within the department to achieve the goal of zero work related injuries
- Ensuring Excellence in Execution by engaging with staff to ensure brand standards are met or exceeded

Actively monitoring and supporting daily operations of all mountain operations departments; ski/ride regularly
during the winter season to assess quality of snow and on-mountain experience -
Thinking Long-Term by creating and implementing policies, procedures, and plans to pro-actively mitigate risk,
improve safety, and provide unmatched quality of service for our internal and external guests -
Performing routine inspections of all mountain operations facilities and infrastructure to ensure proper
maintenance and operation of systems. Promptly coordinate corrective action -
Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including MIOSHA, ANSI B77.1, the
Michigan Ski Area Safety Act and maintain knowledge of industry best practices - Ensuring timely and thorough completion of administrative tasks, required reporting, and documentation
- Informing and consulting the GM, as soon as practicable, on all abnormal or unusual conditions or incidents
- Supporting the creation of and managing department and capital budgets while tracking performance
- Assisting in planning of future on-mountain development and capital improvement projects
- Prioritizing and adapting in a constantly changing business and environmental setting
- Assisting other departments as requested during periods of high volume to maximize guest experience
Supervisory Duties
- Directly supervising up to 7 managers; Indirectly supervises up to 200 team members
This job might be for you if:
- You have achieved an Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus 4 years of experience in resort/mountain operations; OR 8 years of related experience in resort/mountain operations; preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- You are a servant leader; can build and maintain a close-knit team; have an interest in not only serving customers with excellence, you know the value of looking out for the best interests of your team members and can help maintain a fun work environment
- You are flexible and always willing to learn more; understand the demands of exceeding customer needs and can work nights, weekends and holidays when needed
- You are approachable and hospitable; able to communicate in a clear and friendly manner, and have a passion for Boyne's products and services
- You have extensive public speaking and direct management experience is required; 3 years of supervisory experience; negotiating skills are preferred
- You have proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams and Work Management software
- You have at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- You have knowledge and participate in Winter and Summer sports preferred
- You possess a strong understanding of Profit & Loss statements and other financial measures and reports
- You possess a valid driver's license
Salary : $55,500 - $70,300
