This position reports to the General Superintendent. The Construction Laborer is responsible for supporting construction activities through site cleanup, material handling, equipment operation, carpentry assistance, installation of temporary protections, and other general labor tasks. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, organized, and productive job site while assisting project teams with daily construction operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site through daily housekeeping, clean up, and debris removal.
  • Perform select demolition activities.
  • Assist Carpenters, Assistant Carpenters, and other skilled trades with construction activities.
  • Install temporary protections, barriers, dust partitions, safety fencing, and other site protection measures.
  • Set up and dismantle temporary work areas and job site facilities.
  • Perform miscellaneous carpentry tasks.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Drive company vehicles and transport materials, tools, and equipment between project sites as required.
  • Load, unload, move, and stage construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with deliveries, inventory management, and material organization.
  • Exhibit commitment to a safe workplace and worksite.
    • Maintain applicable construction or general industry trainings or certifications as required.
    • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) before starting work.
    • Complete Pre-Task Plans (PTP) where required.
    • Report any HSE violations and unsafe findings to Boyle person in charge.
    • Notify Boyle person in charge of any PPE infractions by Boyle personnel, subcontractors, or anyone else onsite.
    • Notify Boyle person in charge or Director of Safety immediately in the event of an incident, accident, near-miss, if an OSHA/EPA/County official arrives on-site or when a unique hazard arises.
    • Consult with Director of Safety during job-site observations and audits to review and evaluate any identified safety observations or recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project operations.

Qualifications and Other Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Construction, carpentry, warehouse, or labor experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and project needs
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required, or the ability to obtain certification through company-sponsored training within a designated timeframe

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

The physical requirements listed are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work in an environment which may include fumes, odors, chemicals, sawdust, and ash
  • Ability to work in an environment with noises in the range of 30-85 dB
  • Ability to lift or push up to one hundred (100) pounds, or in excess thereof, with the use of proper equipment or assistance
  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to use hand tools safely
  • Ability to use electric tools safely
  • Ability to walk up and down steps, climb ladders, staging, and scaffolding and on uneven ground
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, stretch, and work in tight spaces
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle
