Boyer & Ritter, one of Central Pennsylvania’s leading professional service firms, providing audit, tax and consulting services. We are seeking a full-time experienced Senior Level Tax Manager with strong leadership ability and technical knowledge. We will consider remote candidates with proven leadership background.
Position Purpose:
The Tax Professional's responsibilities include advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to mitigate tax burden and compliance costs, and identifying various methods of adhering to tax regulations while serving as the primary contact for both internal and client-related complex tax issues. In this role, the Tax Professional must apply their knowledge to understand potential tax issues, identify and communicate possible risks, and anticipate changes in tax policy.
Additionally, the Tax Professional will engage in marketing, networking, and business development within their area of expertise and specialization and may be required to provide written tax advice to clients. This leadership position demands a technology-driven approach and expects the identification and implementation of best practices and process improvements consistently.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and review pass-through entity and high net worth individual returns.
- Perform complex tax research and direct tax planning for intricate client situations.
- Review tax accruals along with the associated working papers.
- Evaluate IRS notice responses prepared by other tax personnel.
- Maintain client-oriented service, focusing on teamwork and client care.
- Advise clients and co-workers by providing detailed counsel.
- Ensure efficient flow of tax returns and promote continuous improvement.
- Prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or other taxing authorities.
- Keep firm staff informed of tax legislation changes and developments.
- Assist with planning and coordination of training for tax department personnel.
- Manage client billings as per firm standards when applicable.
- Stay abreast of tax legislation changes, push communications to firm.
- Work with tax department in development and research of efficiency improvements (AI, software etc.)

Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Pennsylvania CPA license is desirable.
- Advanced degree (law or master’s in taxation) or enrollment in an advanced degree program is desirable.
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania and local tax laws required.
- At least 8 years of experience in preparing and reviewing pass through entities and individual tax returns.
- Experience in public accounting and tax necessary.
- Knowledge in the following tax areas is advantageous: Closely held For Profit entities, Not for Profit Organizations, Estate taxation, and Gift taxation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products.
- Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer suite of products is desirable.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets system is desirable.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
