Job Overview
The Orchard and Nursery Production Assistant is a year-round role focused on the efficient operation of the farm. From equipment and building maintenance to planting trees and harvesting fruit, your farming and mechanical experience will keep things running smoothly. You will have a variety of responsibilities including maintaining equipment and vehicles, managing field teams, preparation, planting, management and harvesting of crops, orchard and nursery trees and supporting the retail and wholesale operations, so never a dull moment!
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain and repair inventory of tractors, sprayers, wagons, trailers, forklifts, skid-steers, vehicles (trucks & utility vehicles), landscaping equipment, road tractors and loaders.
- Maintenance on farm property including HVAC, basic plumbing, home and other repairs as needed.
- Assist with the management of field workers.
- All functions associated with the harvest of fruit, orchard trees, or other products produced on the farm.
- Support all other aspects of the nursery operation including sales, wholesale deliveries and customer service.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on farming experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge/aptitude
- Flexibility to work overtime during seasons as needed
- Dependable
- Welding experience for fabrication and repairing equipment
- Valid Driver's License - CDL preferred but not required
- Experience with shop/hand tools
- Bilingual a plus!
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 100 lbs
- Work in all types of weather
- Ability to reach, bend, climb as needed for various essential functions
Earn from $21-24/hour to start (based on experience) with wage review after 90 days.
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
