We value reliability, responsiveness, quality, and communication and are customer focused.The Assistant Controller will handle high-level and managerial accounting and oversee the company's financial activities. This key member of our accounting department will contribute to all aspects of financial accounting and management, including budgeting, Gross Margin analysis by customer and product, sales tax reporting, financial statement preparation for our operating companies and real estate entities, accruals, journal entries, assist in selecting our audit and tax partners, Management of A/P and H/R payrollThis role will report to the Controller, and assist with managing our outside audit firm, and banking relationships in concert with the CEO.This position will analyze the efficiencies of our various business functions of importing, exporting, manufacturing, distribution, and retailing. We value your input.We sell amazing mattresses and bedroom furniture through large retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Mattress Firm, Target, Wayfair, and Home Goods, as well as direct to consumers via our websites and our local retail chain, The Bedroom Store. You will perform accounting for our various divisions of manufacturing, brick and mortar retail, Direct to Consumer websites, importing and exporting. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:Assist in all aspects of accounting, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, financial accounting, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.Assist in the preparation and organization of financial statements for review.Prepare and analyze financial management presentations for the President, Management Team, and Bank.·Maintain key metrics to help provide insights into business performance including sales velocity by salesperson and region, pipeline velocity, sales productivity, labor efficiency, margin analysis, etc.Assist in end-of-month closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.Ensure a documented system of accounting policies and procedures is followed by the organization.Assist in the accounting department cross-training.Cash Flow: Coordinate collections with our A/R staff. Provide cash flow projections.Monitor and reconcile cash and funding balances.Advise management through financial analyses, and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, significant costs, benchmarks, budgeting, finical forecasting, margin analysis, and other matters.Coordinate audit and tax preparation services.Financial reporting of weekly and monthly sales accounts and cost center reporting.Oversee payments made for debts, bank loans, and overseas vendors.Define benchmarks and implement operational best practices.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.Management of several accounting department team members.Job may require other projects and special duties as assigned.Job Requirements and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting and financial analysis. or a related field.Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license is a plus, but not mandatory.5 or more years experience in Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, and supervisory or managerial positions.Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Sage 500 a plus, but not mandatory, experience in software systems implementation a plusAdvanced Microsoft Excel or Google Slides skillsExceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Advanced knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulationsAnalytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.Ability to improve our processes and quality of information.Excellent oral and written communication, including exposure to leadership presentations.Strong analytical experience, with expertise in financial modeling. Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
