TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL TEACHER LEADER

PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: SUPERINTENDENT OR DESIGNEE APPOINTMENT: Instructional Teacher Leaders shall be appointed annually, by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Shall hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position. 2. Shall have experience as a classroom teacher. 3. Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, parents and adults. 4. Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Shall have the ability to sit, stoop, and possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more, any and all body movements as related to the job description. JOB GOAL: To provide leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, and assessment of a high quality, research-based curriculum and assessment program; supply job-embedded professional learning to teachers through modeling lessons, co-planning/co-teaching, peer observations, during/after-school training opportunities, etc. GENERAL DUTIES and PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Shall support the development and ongoing revision of a comprehensive curriculum framework in order to meet student outcomes as established by the district. 2. Shall support teachers in the understanding and alignment of the revised state standards as they are reviewed on the rotating schedule per Senate Bill 1 (two content areas reviewed every year & every six years thereafter). 3. Shall support teachers in strengthening the PLC process across the district. 4. Shall support teachers in implementing best practice instructional strategies through modeling lessons, coplanning/co-teaching, completing peer observations, providing training opportunities, providing feedback to teachers, etc. 5. Shall support the implementation of cooperative learning structures to increase student engagement in classrooms. 6. Shall support teachers in lesson planning and the identification of resources, tools, and programs to continue to move the learning of students forward. 7. Shall increase assessment literacy throughout the district through training opportunities and job-embedded opportunities, such as PLC meetings. 8. Shall support teachers in formative and summative assessment practices, as well as the interpretation of data, to assess student learning. 9. Shall analyze data from district and state assessments to determine the effectiveness of instructional practices, resources, strategies etc. and target specific areas of improvement districtwide to increase student achievement. 10. Shall support teachers in reducing the number of students scoring novice on the state assessment. 11. Shall support differentiated teaching/learning strategies in order to meet the needs of struggling students, as well as gifted students, within the classroom. 12. Shall support the response to intervention process in order to provide struggling students with interventions that help them to become successful in class. 13. Shall collaborate with district administrators to create reports, manuals, guides, assessments, and other written documents as needed. 14. Shall plan and present training opportunities to address certified and/or classified professional learning needs. 15. Shall promote positive public relations with the community and within the school district by using positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills at all times. 16. Shall attend and participate in meetings as assigned in order to provide input in the decision-making processes and maintain communication. 17. Shall perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Days SALARY: Commensurate with the school district’s Certified Salary Schedule FUNDING SOURCE(S): General Fund/Federal Programs
