Production Manager – Boxco Studio

Position Summary
The Production Manager oversees day‑to‑day shop operations and leads the shop team to ensure projects run smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. This role translates production plans into daily tasks, supports cabinetmakers and finishers, and ensures all work meets Boxco’s quality standards.
This position reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with the TechnicalProduction Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead daily shop meetings (8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday–Thursday)
- Assign daily and project-specific tasks to cabinetmakers and the lead finisher
- Monitor progress and adjust assignments as needed
- Serve as first point of contact for shop team questions
- Manage schedules and approve time-off requests
- Conduct quarterly check-ins and annual performance reviews
Production Coordination
- Execute the production schedule and ensure on-time project completion
- Identify delays or resource constraints and communicate promptly
- Translate project documents into daily task assignments
- Coordinate with CNC operator on cutting schedules and part availability
- Align finishing and assembly timelines with the lead finisher
- Communicate recut needs and update the Production Schedule in Airtable
Quality Control
- Ensure all work meets Boxco Studio’s quality standards
- Conduct quality checks on assembly, hardware installation, and finishing
- Document and address quality issues
Inventory & Shop Management
- Manage inventory of shop supplies and regularly stocked hardware
- Receive and inspect deliveries of hardware, accessories, plywood, and sheet goods
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
- Update shop processes and documentation
- Coordinate routine machine maintenance
Hands-On Production (As Needed)
- Assist with cabinet assembly, hardware installation, and finishing
- Support deliveries and installations
- Pack and prepare finished cabinets for shipment
Qualifications
- Experience managing a production or fabrication team
- Cabinetry, woodworking, or custom fabrication experience preferred
- Strong understanding of production workflows and capacity planning
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents
- Hands-on comfort with shop equipment
- Clear, direct communication style
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable using project tracking and scheduling software
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
