Box Elder County has an opening for a full time Deputy County Attorney, Prosecutor IV (Criminal Division). The Deputy County Attorney, Prosecutor IV works under the direction of the County Attorney and the Chief Deputy Attorney in performing assigned legal duties primarily in the prosecution of criminal matters in the First District Court. The position may also include prosecution responsibilities in Justice Court, Juvenile Court, and Specialty Courts (Mental Health Court, Drug Court, etc.).
Applicants should be a graduate from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate Degree in law; admission to the Utah State Bar, active status and in good standing; and 6 to 8 years of experience in the prosecution of criminal matters in District Court or an equivalent jurisdiction.
This position is primarily responsible for prosecuting criminal cases in District Court, including case screening, charging decisions, motion practice, plea negotiations, trial preparation, and courtroom litigation. The position works closely with law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations and charging matters and coordinates with victims and victim advocates throughout the judicial process. Additional responsibilities include conducting legal research, providing legal advice, preparing legal documents, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Starting salary of $125,000 to $135,000, depending on experience.
