Sonographer
Position Summary This employee performs ultrasound examinations. The health care providers of Box Butte General Hospital may order these examinations. This service is done in accordance with as through the implementation of the hospital’s plan to provide medical imaging examinations for the surrounding area. These services are provided in an ethical professional manner. A 30-day notice is required when employee resigns position.
1. Must be able to perform all major life activities including, but not limited to, caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, seeing, hearing, eating, sleeping, walking, standing, lifting, bending, speaking, breathing, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, communicating, and working. Specifically, must be able to perform standing, walking, lifting and bending for entire duration of shift and on call hours.
2. Operates ultrasound equipment, producing and recording data from scans for medical diagnostic purposes.
3. Performs all ultrasound examinations and related procedures using a variety of technical and ultrasound procedures with good organization skill, using independent judgment.
4. Responsible for quality assurance and quality control activities of the ultrasound procedures.
5. Collaborates and interacts well with the staff, allied health care personnel, providers, patients and the community so as to project a positive image of the department and the hospital, and to coordinate quality patient care with special attention to patient age and needs.
6. Maintains a clean and calm environment.
7. Completes all required paperwork/computer entry for each patient needed.
8. Maintain confidentiality of the hospital related information.
9. Follow the Standards of Behavior.
10. Utilize TeamSTEPPS tools.
11. Participate in Patient Experience.
12. Participate in teaching, mentoring and overseeing students enrolled in Imaging Technology Programs during clinical rotation and students shadowing in department as part of an internship or cadet program.
Other Job Functions:
1. Transport patients and/or ultrasound machine to and from various patient care areas being aware of individual patient needs.
2. Maintain and complete patient records and reports.
3. Keep digital and / or hard copy of the ultrasound procedure manual and protocols current.
4. Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to every changing workload, with the willingness to cross-train into other modalities of ultrasound.
5. Arranges for maintenance and calibrations of machinery as needed. Coordinates these activities with service engineers and maintenance professionals to achieve a minimum of downtime.
6. Participates in own performance evaluation by identifying individual goals and reviewing progress with department manager.
7. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence by meeting annual requirements for validation of competency in specified skills.
8. Be alert and able to concentrate on work with many interruptions and have good memory retention for work and cases completed.
9. Perform any other assigned duties as assigned.
Age Requirement
18 years of age or older
Education
Required:
High School education (or equivalent), and graduate in good standing from an accredited ultra songraphy Program.

Experience/Qualifications
Required:
Computer skills, with the ability to use a variety of computer programs. Excellent customer service and telephone skills.
Preferred:
Ultrasound experience. Experience working or clinical hours in a hospital setting. Experience working with patients of all ages and health conditions.

Expected work hours up to - 12 plus call
