Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Reporting Relationship: Cardio Rehab Nurse Manager and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
General Summary of Responsibilities: The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing respiratory care to patients across the lifespan, based on orders from the attending medical provider. This role includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of various respiratory care modalities, following the regulations of the State of Nebraska. The job may require flexible working hours due to changing organizational needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain respiratory care standards by implementing hospital and departmental policies.
- Provide individualized respiratory care to patients of all ages as ordered by the Licensed Medical Provider (LMP).
- Perform diagnostic testing (EKG, Holter and Event Monitoring, Stress Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing, Ambulatory B/P Monitoring).
- Participate in hospital and departmental committees (Infection Control, Safety, Quality Assurance, etc.).
- Contribute to the development of care plans and discharge planning.
- Conduct pulmonary evaluations and respond to patient feedback.
- Provide education to patients and nursing staff about respiratory care and equipment use.
- Implement respiratory treatments using nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators, etc.
- Participate as a team member in the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Program.
- Ensure proper maintenance of departmental equipment.
Other Job Functions:
- Provide regular inservice teaching for nursing staff and students.
- Take call and respond to respiratory emergencies as needed.
- Work rotating weekends and holidays.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree and graduation from an NBRC-approved program.
- Credentials: RRT with NBRC certification in good standing in Nebraska.
- Required: Recent graduate from an approved NBRC program.
- Preferred: Two or more years of acute care experience as a licensed RRT, with experience in Pulmonary Rehab and Electrodiagnostics.
License/Certifications:
Required:

- Current Nebraska license as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate for healthcare workers.
- ACLS within one year of hire to position
- PALS within one year of hire to position
