Position Summary
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the district’s financial operations. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing general ledger functions, financial reporting, budget analysis, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the district’s general ledger and financial records.
- Prepare various finance statements for assigned activities such as monthly statements on a comparison of budget allocation to actual expenditures
- Monitor budget performance and assist in the development and oversight of the annual budget.
- Process and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations, including Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) requirements.
- Assist with State and Federal Reporting
- Assist in administration of model procurement
- Assist with external audits, preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to district leadership.
- Support payroll, grants, and fund accounting processes as needed.
- Collaborate with school administrators to ensure proper financial procedures are followed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and school finance best practices.
- Analyzes situations accurately and adopts an effective course of action
- Interprets, applies and explains rules, regulations, policies, procedures and governmental regulations
- Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students, their families, and employees.
- Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
- Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Finance or Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform office duties.
- The work requires bending, squatting and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
