Special Education Teacher - High Needs
Bowling Green School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support and inspire learners. This position focuses on serving high needs students through flexible and engaging instruction, while fostering intellectual and social-emotional growth. The ideal candidate will create a challenging yet supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.
Salary: Based on the district’s certified salary schedule and commensurate with teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Serve as a case manager and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide differentiated instruction and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of students.
- Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction to support growth.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to support student success.
- Create a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic, social, and emotional development.
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals assigned to students/placement.
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, team collaboration, and district initiatives
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
Qualifications
- Valid Missouri Special Education certification
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and gifted education practices
