Position Summary
Bowlin Enterprises is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Dredge Operator to operate, monitor, and maintain dredging equipment used in excavation, pond construction, sand and gravel recovery, and other mining-related projects. The ideal candidate will have experience operating dredges and related heavy equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate dredging equipment safely and efficiently according to project specifications.
- Monitor dredge performance, material production, and equipment systems.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on dredging equipment.
- Maintain proper dredging depths and production targets as directed by supervisors.
- Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, equipment operators, and support crews.
- Monitor pumps, pipelines, engines, hydraulic systems, and other dredge components.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, production reports, and equipment records.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training programs.
- Assist with mobilization, demobilization, and setup of dredging operations as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience operating dredges, heavy equipment, or mining-related equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and pumping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and dredging surveys.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as project demands require.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Experience with cutterhead, excavator-mounted, or suction dredges.
- MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 certification/training.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience in mining, aggregate production, or dredging operations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb ladders, work on floating equipment, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Mining, industrial, construction, and outdoor work environments.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, and waterborne operations.
- Must use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
