Overview
Telecommunications Mechanic II (RWR-2025-23227):
Bowhead seeks to network with Telecommunications Mechanic II for an upcoming proposal effort to support communications upgrades at McConnell AFB.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
Install, terminate, and test Cat-6 cabling to TIA-568B standards.
Mount and secure cable pathways (J-hooks, trays), patch panels, and racks.
Perform labeling, grounding, and bonding IAW military and NEC standards.
Assist in routing cables through walls, raceways, and conduits.
Interpret drawings and cable layouts, participate in cutovers and testing.

Qualifications
- Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical school preferred.
- Years of experience
- Minimum 3 years in telecommunications cabling or structured wiring installation.
- Required skills or certifications
Proficient in using test equipment (Fluke DSX, OTDR, OPM).
Ability to read cable plans and floor layouts.
Knowledge of plenum-rated cables, firestopping, and cable management practices.
BICSI Installer II or similar certification preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
