Overview
Emergency Medical Technician: (AVTBTSS-2025-22775):
Bowhead seeks a full time Emergency Medical Technician who shall be able to provide EMT services during Military Physical Training events, Testing Operations, on OPEN OCEAN Testing, and in Rugged Terrain Environments.
Responsibilities
- Shall be qualified and comply with California Code of Regulations Title 22, Divisions 2.5 and 9, and the San Diego County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Shall respond to all medical emergencies at AVTB and during supported test events. Shall treat minor injuries and triage treatment of individuals having multiple problems.
- Shall use acceptable medical industry standards to manage emergency medical events.
- Shall prepare personnel with minor injuries for transfer to the appropriate medical facility for treatment, if necessary. The Government will provide transportation for all injured personnel.
- Shall complete written incident reports and personnel care reports specific to emergency medical services.
- Shall determine the nature and extent of illness or injury, or the magnitude of catastrophe to establish first aid procedures.
- Shall administer first aid treatment at the site of the emergency, performing activities such as the application of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or the administration of artificial resuscitation.
- Shall ensure that all employees or subcontractors (Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) directly performing the emergency medical services under this contract possess current National EMS certification, California state certifications/licensure, and San Diego County EMS certifications and accreditation for the role (EMT) they are performing.
- Shall ensure emergency medical personnel are equipped with foul weather gear and standard medical supply bags that include all the medical supplies, equipment, and advanced life support medications specified in the following San Diego County EMS policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Shall conduct a monthly educational training and demonstration of basic emergency treatment procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), controlling bleeding, administering oxygen, dressing wounds, etc., to Marines.
- Shall assist in test planning by informing staff of emergency medical requirements, recommending additional capabilities for specific test events and conducting coordination with local emergency services during deployed test events.
- Shall provide emergency treatment, as required during staff sponsored non-test and training events (e.g., annual Unit boat race, and other events deemed neccessary).
Qualifications
• CPR/ BLS certification required.• Certification as an EMT.• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts. • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
