A seasoned real estate pioneer is adding a Property Accountant to support a growing commercial real estate portfolio spanning office, industrial, and retail properties across Phoenix and Tempe. This role takes ownership over the monthly financial reporting, CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, AP/AR processing, bank and GL reconciliations, and year-end close support for a ~1M sq ft portfolio. Reporting to a highly experienced Controller and working alongside a tight-knit, long-tenured team, this position is essential to keeping the company’s financial engine sharp, accurate, and timely. They are looking for a detail-driven, reliable, experienced property accountant who thrives in a small, friendly, fast-moving environment and wants to step into a high-visibility seat with room to grow.
Property Accountant Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for a portfolio of commercial properties
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time
- Complete CAM reconciliations and support tenant billing processes
- Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasting
- Support year-end close, audit prep, and financial reviews with leadership
- Post journal entries and maintain clean, organized accounting records
- Coordinate with the Controller, CFO, and operations teams to keep reporting current
- Help create efficiencies and improve workflows within the accounting function
Property Accountant Requirements
- 5 years of property accounting experience in commercial real estate
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Yardi and QuickBooks experience required
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, CAM, AP/AR, and reconciliations
- Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work onsite
