Patent Paralegal Responsibilities
Patent Paralegal Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in all phases of IP litigation, including document management, discovery, and trial preparation
- Draft, format, and file legal documents and pleadings in U.S. District Courts and before the USPTO
- Maintain and update docketing systems and litigation calendars for multiple cases
- Monitor case deadlines, correspondence, and filings to ensure compliance with court and agency requirements
- Conduct research and assist in document discovery and production
- Manage client files, ECF filings, and deposition scheduling
- Coordinate with attorneys, opposing counsel, and clients to ensure timely responses and deliverables
- Provide general administrative and project-based support across the IP department
- 2 years of IP or patent litigation experience
- Strong understanding of federal e-filing (ECF) procedures
- Associate or bachelor’s degree required
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accuracy under tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Paralegal certificate preferred
- Experience with case management systems preferred
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team
- Flexible and dependable; available to assist during occasional deadline-driven weekends
