Position Summary:
The Environmental Services (EVS) Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary healthcare environment in accordance with CDC infection control guidelines and hospital standards. This role plays a critical part in patient safety and overall hospital operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma (preferred)
- Experience: Previous clinical housekeeping experience preferred
- Licensure/Certifications: Not required

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking and sound judgment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Cleaning Services
- Clean assigned areas thoroughly to meet sanitation and infection control standards
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize patient rooms and common areas
- Clean restrooms, walls, vents, and windows
- Perform high dusting and furniture sanitization
- Ensure all areas meet departmental cleanliness expectations
- Stock supplies including linens, paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and toilet paper
Cleaning Support Activities
- Document completed tasks per department standards
- Communicate room readiness and cleanliness status to staff
- Follow all JCAHO, OSHA, and hospital compliance standards
- Monitor and report supply inventory needs
- Maintain proper handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
Safety
- Identify and report potential hazards in work areas
- Follow safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self
- Take corrective action when safety concerns arise
- Ensure proper signage and precautions during cleaning activities
Non-Essential Functions:
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Assist with special cleaning projects or emergency response needs
- Support team members and other departments as needed
