Position Title: UnderwriterLocation: Hopkinton, MA$65,000 to $85,000, plus full benefits!Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team in Mt. Laurel, NJ. This role involves evaluating insurance applications to determine risk eligibility and coverage suitability. The ideal candidate will apply sound judgment and industry knowledge to assess risks, communicate with brokers and carriers, and support the underwriting process from start to finish.Key Responsibilities:Review insurance applications, loss control reports, and other documentation to assess risk eligibility.Analyze risk experience relative to business classification.Evaluate potential losses due to catastrophic events, severity, and frequency.Rate policies and verify accuracy of previously rated policies.Use automated systems to compile data for new and renewal policies.Prepare quotes and respond to inquiries from agents, policyholders, and prospects.Provide guidance to agents regarding application status and underwriting criteria.Process requests for cancellations, endorsements, and renewals.Request additional documentation as needed to complete underwriting actions.Conduct marketing visits to agency partners.Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Active Producer’s License required.Minimum of 3 years of experience in the insurance industry.Prior experience in underwriting or related functions.Proficiency with computer systems and software.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical and detail-oriented capabilities.Assertive and resourceful with proven negotiation skills.Solid understanding of insurance coverage forms and their application.Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and departmental policies.Ability to work independently and manage tasks within established procedures.Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external partners.Completion of relevant industry courses, licenses, or designations preferred.Compensation & Benefits:This role offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $85,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package including:Paid Time Off and HolidaysHybrid Work ScheduleRetirement Plan with Employer Match100% Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceEducation AssistanceVoluntary Benefits OptionsWellness Program with Mental Health SupportEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)To learn more, reach out to Louis at louis@instrideagency.com
