Responsibilities
- Perform triage and prioritize emergency patients based on condition
- Assist with patient stabilization and ongoing emergency nursing care
- Monitor hospitalized and critical patients and communicate changes promptly to the medical team
- Participate in CPR/CPCR and advanced life support efforts
- Perform IV catheter placement, venipuncture, urinary catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection
- Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, and oral routes as prescribed by veterinarians
- Monitor anesthesia and sedation for emergency procedures and surgeries
- Perform and assist with diagnostic imaging and point-of-care diagnostics, including radiographs and CT scans
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient care, nursing updates, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with ER doctors, specialists, assistants, and support staff to maintain efficient workflow
- Support a positive, team-oriented culture in a busy emergency environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or license-eligible in Washington State
- Emergency or specialty hospital experience strongly preferred
- Strong technical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to continued learning and professional development
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods
