We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Dental Assistant to provide exceptional patient care during a maternity leave coverage period. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in dental technology, infection control, and patient communication, supporting both general dentistry and specialized treatments such as pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and prosthodontics.
Duties
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgical treatments while maintaining strict adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all necessary materials are available for scheduled procedures.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as open dental , ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation.
- Perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric or adult patients.
- Maintain infection prevention standards through proper sterilization of dental instruments and adherence to infection control policies.
- Support front desk operations by assisting with patient management software, scheduling appointments, and coordinating patient flow efficiently.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Dental Assistant with current certification in CPR and infection control practices.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical environment, preferably with exposure to general dentistry, pediatrics, or oral surgery.
- Proficiency with computers for medical documentation and records management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation (including 3D scanners), and sterilization procedures.
- Familiarity with dental x-ray techniques and radiographic safety standards in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to follow clinical confidentiality policies rigorously while managing sensitive medical information.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control measures along with aseptic technique expertise.
