Job Description Summary:

Under limited supervision, provides exceptional customer service to patrons, performs cash handling duties, and registration system functions including registering patrons for programs and services of the department at any of the city of Boulder's recreation facilities. Assists with facility operations and performs related duties as required.

GOLF COURSE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides excellent customer service to the patrons of the Golf Course Facility.

  • Interacts with the Department of Parks and Recreation golf course customers by greeting patrons, answering phones, providing information about services and programs, and checking in golf patrons.

  • Communicates effectively with golf course patrons in person and over the phone to market and promote Golf Course Services, and Programs.

  • Operates the registration system, including Point of Sale.

  • Registers participants for golf tee times and have a strong knowledge of golf course operations.

  • Maintains management of golf course application software, Club Prophet POS system, Gallus Golf Application, Golf Genius Software, and GHIN handicap network.

  • Assists patrons with booking/scheduling tee time, selling merchandise, scheduling programs and/or events, and supporting online services.

  • Performs cash handling in accordance with the City and Department policies and internal controls and is able to accurately balance cash drawer and provide accurate change. Able to understand and troubleshoot accounting transactions in the registration system.

  • Serves as a lead worker.

  • Resolves customer concerns, incidents, and program issues as they occur.

  • Completes accident and incident reports as necessary.

  • Assists in the management and operation of the golf course, driving range, and practice putting green.

  • Explains, defines, and enforces rules and policies governing golf course usage.

  • Coordinates daily tasks of golf operations employees to ensure adherence to all internal work rules.

  • Trains and schedules operations staff as directed by the Golf Supervisors.

  • Controls and manages play; ensures the acceptable pace of play and professional golf environment.

  • Operates golf range machinery and equipment when seasonal employees are not available.

  • Provides training and support for operational computer systems including USGA and golf POS.

  • Provides direction and assistance to other golf course attendant employees.

  • Provides general custodial duties as needed daily.

  • Performs a variety of administrative functions such as filing, making and maintaining signs, maintaining the Voice Mail menu system, updating information boards and flyers, maintaining brochure racks, and providing support for various center employees.

  • Executes additional project-based assignments.

  • Manages inventory of supplies for facilities, including items sold for resale and office supplies.

  • Acts as a senior buyer for all merchandise for resale products.

  • Stocks, inventories, and displays merchandise; assists customers with merchandise/equipment selection; makes recommendations to the Director of Golf concerning future purchases.

  • Repairs clubs and/or oversee contracted club repair work.

  • Assist program coordinators with program maintenance, customer service, and special projects.

  • Other special projects as assigned.

  • Assists in fiscal responsibilities.

  • Assists in monitoring revenue and expense budgets and corrective management.

  • Assists in accounts payable and revenue deposit procedures.

  • Acts as City of Boulder golf representative as required.

  • Assists public leagues and tournaments as necessary in the formation and promotion of their activities.

  • Maintains and promotes a superlative professional image with the community.

  • Assists in the marketing, promotion, and advertising of the golf operation.

  • Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city.

  • Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.

  • Ensures safety of self, others, materials, and equipment.

  • Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Reports all accidents and damage to city property.

  • Knows and complies with all city and department policies; participating in professional training and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to demonstrate receptionist and cash handling experience.

  • Ability, interest, and desire to provide excellent customer service in person and on the telephone.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people in an organizational context.

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.

  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.

  • Knowledge of the operations of the golf course, driving range, and practice greens.

  • Skills and knowledge in using Golf Genius software.

  • Must successfully pass a background check before first day of work and maintain acceptable screening.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Skills in BFS, Class, and Golf POS.

  • PGA Class A certification or actively in process to obtain.

  • Holds and maintains a valid drivers' license.

  • Experience working for a public or private golf Course.

  • Prior experience as a lead worker.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical and Mental Effort: Requires lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer and office equipment. Ability to participate in youth sports activities. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/ or operating a keyboard. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.

  • Work Environment: Work can be a combination of indoor clean, comfortable and/or outdoor with various weather conditions. Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.

  • Machines and Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copy/fax machines, cash register, adding machine, and typewriter. Also uses builder's level, digital camera, city vehicle, cash register, washer, and dryer.
