Position Title: Administrative Assistant II

FTE: 1.0 - 40 hours per week - Regular, ongoing 

Work Schedule: 261 Days 

Pay Range:* $26.15 - $37.76

Summary:

Responsible for providing support to administrative and department as a whole. Enhance executive’s effectiveness by providing information management support; representing the executive, while also providing support to schools, departments and employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specific administrative support for the Executive Director of Special Education by creating letters, memos and reports. Preparing, researching and gathering information for special projects and other related materials and documents that deal with matters that may be of a highly confidential or sensitive nature. Coordinates projects: complies, synthesizes, analyzes, writes and formats reports, forms, submissions and other requested data.
  • Request repairs for building/equipment to the Maintenance Department and various vendors, research and evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Schedule interviews, prepare interview packets, assist with follow up with Human Resources and job candidates.
  • Design, edit and validate articles for monthly District-wide Special Education newsletter with input from staff.
  • Coordinate, and maintain listing and necessary paperwork of District-wide Special Education Transportation including correspondence with case managers and Transportation staff.
  • Coordinate, maintain contact, schedule, and provide Private School Administrators information regarding BVSD obligations to educationally identified students with a disability parentally placed in private schools. Reserve conference rooms, create and mail professional development information and track attendance.
  • Facilitate, record and direct information to administrators, staff and parents regarding CDE requests and reports such as surveys and audits.
  • Maintain Out of District Contracts and paperwork; follow up as assistant to Out of District Facilitator.
  • Facilitate process for completion of Independent Educational Evaluation communication with parents, professional vendors, documentation of qualifications, contract development, evaluation scheduling and report distribution, payment process.
  • Prepares annual legal notices for distribution to local newspapers for Child Find and Special Education Record Destruction as required by law.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending professional development and educational workshops.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application. 
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English. 
  • Minimum of four years experience in general office occupations and computer experience.
Preferred:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish). 
  • Broad knowledge base to respond to diverse requests for information for employees and general public. 
  • Ability to utilize public relations expertise.
  • Knowledge of district functions and policies. 

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. This information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education. All salaries are set by Human Resources based on a review of qualifications compared to the requirements on the job description; therefore listing all related education and experience on your application is recommended.
