We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics-ready data models that support finance, operations, and business intelligence. This role will partner closely with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, performance, and usability across reporting and analytics platforms.

The ideal candidate is highly technical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with a strong emphasis on Python-based data processing, SQL, Power BI, and advanced DAX performance tuning.

 

Job Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Pipelines

  • Design, build, and maintain robust ETL / ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Integrate data from ERP systems, operational databases, APIs, and external data sources
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across all data assets
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and error-handling for production data pipelines

Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement

  • Develop and maintain analytics-ready data models (star/snowflake schemas)
  • Optimize data structures for Power BI and downstream reporting tools
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions

Power BI & DAX Optimization

  • Build and maintain Power BI datasets with a focus on performance and scalability
  • Write, analyze, and optimize complex DAX measures
  • Use DAX Studio to diagnose performance issues, reduce query times, and improve model efficiency
  • Implement best practices around model relationships, aggregations, and incremental refresh

Collaboration & Governance

  • Work closely with finance, accounting, and operations teams to support reporting and forecasting needs
  • Support data governance initiatives, including documentation, lineage, and access controls
  • Contribute to data standards, naming conventions, and best practices
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
  • Advanced SQL skills (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning)
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, including dataset modeling and report optimization
  • Advanced experience with DAX, including performance tuning using DAX Studio
  • Experience working with relational databases and data warehouses (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Azure SQL, etc.)

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in finance-heavy or private-equity-owned environments
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Chempax by Datacor preferred)
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Exposure to machine learning, forecasting, or advanced analytics
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD for data pipelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with business practicality
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Comfortable working independently and owning end-to-end data solutions

Work Environment

This role is primarily based in an office environment with some occasional outdoor infrastructure work. This role requires occasional travel between two or more locations within short driving distance in personal vehicle. The position will require extended keyboarding time. The employee will be occasionally working in manufacturing areas, prep areas, and storage facilities that require the use of PPE.

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
