Boulder Scientific Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist III. This person will conduct method development, method verification, analysis and experimentation on substances to support our analytical advancements. The Analytical Chemist III will utilize appropriate methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties. This position is a day shift position, Monday-Friday.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, verify and maintain analytical test methods for assigned products with a focus on ICP-MS
- Writes/revises standard operating procedures from method development and method transfer activities
- Maintains a laboratory notebook and writes reports on method development and validation activities
- Participates in continuous improvement activities as specified by the Analytical Services Director
- Troubleshoots samples and testing for Production, Pilot Plant, and R&D
- Develops training materials and trains QC chemists in new analytical instrumentation and methods
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates analytical equipment associated with developed methods
- Designs studies and performs appropriate statistical analyses for method and equipment validation
- Independently and proactively identifies process gaps within Analytical Services and determines necessary remediation, including documentation, training, and equipment
- Monitors emerging technology in the analytical instrumentation space to determine suitability of advancements to BSC processes
- Initiates and manages organizational capital expenditure (CapEx) requests in purchase of new equipment
- Presents data to the BSC Leadership Team and associated stakeholders
- Coordinates teams in the execution of special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Chemistry or related field
- Minimum of nine years of method development and analytical analysis
Experience
- ICP-MS method development and verification required
- GC, NMR, IC, ICP-OES and HPLC method development and validation experience preferred
- IQ/OQ/PQ verification techniques strongly preferred
- Root Cause Analysis
- Strong statistical background
- Wet chemistry experience
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage method development projects and proactively communicate to stakeholders
- Experience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPE
- Technical writing experience preferred
- Familiarity with Preventative Maintenance and Performance Verification of laboratory equipment
- Working knowledge (including maintenance) of gloveboxes, fume hoods, ultrapure water systems, and compresses gasses
Work Environment
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
