Boulder Scientific Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist. This person will conduct analysis and experimentation on substances to support our method development activities utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The Analytical Chemist will utilize appropriate methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties. This position is a day shift position, Monday-Friday. Level will be commensurate with experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Writes/revises standard operating procedures from method development and method transfer activities
- Maintains a laboratory notebook and writes reports on method development and validation activities
- Participates in continuous improvement activities as specified by the Analytical Services Director
- Troubleshoots samples and testing for Production, Pilot plant, and R&D
- Develops training materials and trains QC chemists in new analytical instrumentation and methods
- Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates analytical equipment associated with developed methods
Additional responsibilities for the II level:
- Designs studies and performs appropriate statistical analyses for method and equipment validation
- Independently and proactively identifies process gaps within Analytical Services and determines necessary remediation, including documentation, training, and equipment
- Monitors emerging technology in the analytical instrumentation space to determine suitability of advancements to BSC processes
- Initiates and manages organizational capital expenditure (CapEx) requests in purchase of new equipment
- Coordinates teams in the execution of special projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science from four-year college or university with zero to five years of related industrial experience
Experience
- GC, NMR, XRF, and ICP experience desired
- Basic wet chemistry experience
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage method development projects
- Experience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPE
- Technical writing experience preferred
- Quality control experience preferred
- Method development experience preferred
Expected for the II level:
- GC, NMR, Auto-titration, HPLC, IC, and ICP experience desired
- Familiarity with Preventative Maintenance and Performance Verification programs
- Working knowledge (including maintenance) of gloveboxes, fume hoods, ultrapure water systems, and compresses gasses
- Experience with Quality Management Systems and Lean/Six Sigma methodology
Work Environment
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Salary : $62,500 - $82,500
