Description

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is seeking to hire two (2) Bilingual Motor Vehicle Title Clerks. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office is proud to serve our community through three divisions: Motor Vehicle, Recorder, and Elections. We are looking for two (2) bilingual (Spanish) Motor Vehicle Title Clerks who share our passion for public service and want to help provide the best possible experience for the people of Boulder County.

The focus of the Motor Vehicle division is titling and registering all vehicles in the county and issuing disability placards. Our 45 team members work in three locations—Boulder, Longmont, and Lafayette.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, is a great teammate, and can balance friendly, efficient, and accurate service with adherence to compliance of statute and rules. You should be comfortable with data entry, pay close attention to details, and be able to quickly learn and apply complex rules. You should also exhibit a commitment to engagement with diverse groups of people, including the public and co-workers, with the intention to listen and to foster opportunities for equity and inclusion.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 5:30pm. This position will work out of any of three locations: 1750 33rd St, Boulder; 529 Coffman St, Longmont; 1755 S Public Rd, Lafayette. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $52,008.00 - $57,150.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline

  • Phone Screening: Week of August 31st
  • First Round Interviews: Week of September 7th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of September 14th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of September 21st
  • Reference Check: Week of September 14th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Examples of Duties

  • Compliance
    • Required to research, understand, and meet Colorado Department of Revenue legislative compliance and DRIVES (Motor Vehicle) computer system rules
    • Demonstrate and apply a comprehensive knowledge of the DRIVES (Motor Vehicle) computer system
    • Required to understand and follow Clerk and Recorder policies and county guidelines
    • Ensure confidentiality of public member’s information
    • Comply with all cyber security requirements, trainings, and procedures
  • Public Service
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance of Motor Vehicle transactions
    • Confirm and clarify understanding of public needs (in person, email, or phone)
    • Research, review state statutes, rules and regulations and stay current
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service when working with the public
    • Complete VIN inspections following safety guidelines and in designated spots
    • Recommend to your supervisor and manager how to provide better service, accessibility, and equity and inclusion; incorporate feedback from the public and from your own experience
    • Process and Procedure requirements
    • Provide input about how to update SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
    • Meet speed and accuracy expectations for counter and phone transactions in accordance with training plan milestones
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Performs related work, as required
    • May be reassigned during emergency situations
Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • A high school diploma, or equivalent

AND

  • 2 (two) years of office experience which may include retail, restaurants, banking, healthcare, and other sectors

Background Check

Bilingual Skills

  • Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized verbal demonstration. (tier 2 will be verbal)
  • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.

    • Vacation and Medical leave are based off of full time FTE accruals. Part-time FTE/term employees accrue leave based on the percentage of time they work.
